Java
An object-oriented programming language, developed by SUN,
that has seen widespread adoption for use on the Internet. With Java,
web designers can create more sophisticated and enhanced web pages -
for example, with animated graphics or built in spreadsheets. Small
Java programs, known as applets, can be embedded within a web page.
JavaScript
An object-oriented programming language that allows Java objects to be embedded directly in a web page.
JDK (Java Development Kit)
A software
development package from Sun Microsystems that implements the basic set
of tools needed to write, test and debug Java applications and applets
JIT (just in time)
A method of reducing stock holdings by having the necessary amount of materials arriving ‘just-in-time’ for production.
JPEG (Joint Picture Expert Group)
A graphical
image compression system used widely on the Internet to reduce download
times for images. They have the suffix .jpg.
Junk Mail
Also known as spam. Unsolicited email messages, usually advertisements.
